Every season brings about its own set of fashion rules and fashion must haves.  Fall is one of the best seasons for expressing your style.  This year, velvet is making a comeback as a fabric for fall.  In magazines such as Elle and on the runway during Fashion Week, designs featuring velvet have graced the runway and the pages of magazines.  Designers such as Alexander McQueen, whose gowns have been worn by Michelle Obama, are creating beautiful dresses and gowns with velvet for fall.  Listed below are five staples that should be a part of your fall wardrobe.
Blazers are back! A simple but stylish blazer can really be a staple in your fall wardrobe.  Wearing a blazer with a t-shirt will give you a nice casual look.  Pairing it with a ruffled shirt or nice button down shirt with dark denim jeans and heels will transform your outfit from a casual look to a casual dressy look.  Of course wearing a blazer with slacks and a nice blouse will definitely take the look of the outfit up a notch.  If you have natural hair, you can wear your hair in a high bun to give your outfit a more conservative look, or wear you natural hair in a twist out style for a different look.  For those with relaxed hair and weaves, wearing your hair in soft curls will bring a romantic feel to the whole look.  Pictured below is a Boucle Blazer form Cold Water Creek.

When the weather starts to change and it gets cold and the leaves are falling on the ground, it is hard to resist pulling out those boots you missed wearing after a long stretch of hot weather.  A nice pair of riding boots is a must for your fall collection.  For black women who petite, wearing an ankle boot may be more flattering and lengthen your legs.  If you are average height or taller, wearing riding boots or over the knee boots paired with a cute dress can really make a style statement.  Pictured below are Vince Camuto Leather Boots from Victoria’s Secret.

Statement jewelry is a fashion “do.”  Bold pieces of jewelry to compliment your outfit can give it the polished look it may need.  The key to wearing statement jewelry is not to overdo it.  Wearing to much can take you from being glam to gaudy very quickly.   If you are going to do statement earrings, do not wear a necklace.  Choose a statement ring instead.  ‘When wearing a statement necklace, keep the earrings small and you can finish the look off with either a statement ring or bracelet, but not both.  Pictured are two statement pieces from Michael Kors.

Leather is always clever.  A nicely made leather jacket can give any outfit more of a hip look.  A leather jacket can be paired with jeans for a casual look, a dress, or slacks.  What will determine the outcome of the look will be the type of supporting garments you wear with the jacket.  Pictured below is a Michael Kors Leather Scuba Jacket.

The last item on the list is a show stopping pair of heels!  Who says you can’t wear sexy shoes in the winter?  A great pair of heels will be just the finishing touch any sexy outfit needs.  Pictured below are Jimmy Choo KILN boots.

Everyone is wearing the chunky gold chain necklaces now…I have even seen them in silver. It is definitely a trend! (I have one too.). I like the pieces chosen for this article.
