Interesting that the first current date real world crcaratehs on the show (Penny and the snow dudes) finally occurred after two years. The season two finale marked the first time in the show’s history that a character, in current time AND in the real world, made an appearance. Until now, all real world crcaratehs were flashbacks, and all real time crcaratehs were on the island. This revelation does narrow things down a bit for those trying to unlock the overall mystery of the show, albeit slightly: 1) The real word does still exist and the island is, in some way, detectable, or at least known about, in that real world. No snow globes here. (Although, funny how we do see snow in the finally.)
