How To: Lengthen Your Hair Beyond it’s Hereditary Limit



It’s fair to say that no matter the texture of hair, most women want long, flowing locks. This is manifested even in some of the childhood fairy tales that we know about. For example, the story of Rapunzel tells how her hair was so long that she threw it out of the window so her lover could climb up and see her in the castle.

Realistically speaking, most of us do not want hair longer than the length of our bodies, but it would be nice just to see if we can achieve that kind of growth. When you reflect back over your life, you may realize that your hair seems to stop growing at some point. This is commonly due to your genes.Excessively long hair tends to be hereditary, however, there is a way to cheat your own DNA and maximize the length of time in your hair growth cycle.

Allow me to break it down further. The hair growth cycle occurs in 3 stages. These stages are: Anagen, Catagen, and Telogen.

1) Anagen phase: this is your growing phase and this is the stage you WANT to maximize! This phase lasts for about 3 – 5 years. This phase is usually genetically determined.

2) Catagen phase: this the stage where your hair transitions/prepares to go in torest mode. This phase lasts about 1 – 2 weeks.

3) Telogen phase: this is the actual resting period of your hair follicles. It is in this phase that your older hairs are done and begin to fall out, then the cycle starts all over again. This phases last about 3 – 4 months.

So, you might be wondering what it is that you can do to “lengthen” your Anagen or growth phase, right? The answer is commonly found in a supplement intended for joint health. This supplement is called *MSM, or *Organic Sulfur. MSM stands for Methylsulfonylmethane. MSM naturally lengthens your hair growth phase (Anagen). It is found in many foods but because of excessive processing, microwaving, and cooking the benefits of it are lost before it can absorb into the body. When combined with Biotin (increase numbers of hairs in follicles) you get fuller hair at the same time, By lengthening the growth cycle, you first notice that you don’t have so much hair falling out. Wearing satin caps for sleeping also helps minimize rubbing your hair off on the pillow. Minimize the heat/chemicals used adds to the list of things you DON’T do to you damage and shorten your hair.

    MSM can make some people sleepy, some say they have headaches, some nausea. Because it’s organic sulfur, that you COULD get in your food in much smaller amounts, if you feel an uncomfy side effect, reduce the amount you take and gradually increase dosage — some go as high as 2000-3000 mg/day. Which is what I did. after adding Vit C, which is what I did. (If in doubt, check with your PCP to ensure safety for YOU.)
