Leading Natural Hair Subsciption Boxes Turn One

Just a year ago, two natural hair subscription boxes began to make waves.   CurlBOX and Curlkit, the two leading natural hair subscription boxes, help women on the search for their “holy grail” products.   For just $20 a month, subscribers receive a box with product samples and full-sized products.   Still looking for a shampoo that doesn’t dry out your hair?   Have you always wanted to try a product from an online retailer, but the shipping costs deterred you?   Then you may want to try one of these beauty boxes.  If you are unsure which one you should choose, then check out their websites and the plethora of “unboxings” on YouTube and Instagram.

More about the brands…

CurlBOX is the brainchild of Myleik Teele.   After  years in public relations, she wanted a new challenge.   She saw a void in the natural hair industry and sought to fill it.   She describes her subscription box as an experience where VIP subscribers receive 5-7 premium hair samples for naturally curly hair.   Subscribers also benefit from a CurlBOX mag and a vibrant community online via Instagram, Facbeook, Twitter, and the CurlBOX blog.   In her recent anniversary video she said,”To know that I created something that makes young black girls feels awesome… get to their happy place before I did is huge for me.”

Curlkit was started by Heather Cummings in March 2012.  Inspired by her own natural hair journey, she wanted to make the search for natural hair products and information easier for other women.  “Our goal at CurlKit is to provide a complete subscription service for our naturally (curly, coily, kinky, locs, textured) hair customers.   A service that not only provides healthful products but one that also includes education; maintenance, hair care and styling tips.  We have created a community where customers can share their journey with other naturals all over the world through our CurlTalk, our CurlLife Magazine and through our blogs”, says Heather.
