Textured Beauty: Trudy

4chairchick1Name: Trudy Susan aka 4c Hair Chick (@4cHairChick)
Tell us about yourself.  I’m a full-time marketing strategist by day and Youtube vlogger by night. I’ve been a professional marketer for over eight years and I absolutely love all things marketing.
With everything I do, my goal is to be a positive contributor.  When I’m not doing my day job, I enjoy helping small businesses, bloggers, and vloggers with marketing.   And I love sharing my natural hair journey and connecting with other naturals via my online community 4c Hair Chick.
How long have you been natural?  On and off my whole life, but I officially decided to give up perms June 2011.
Why did you go natural? There are many reasons, but the main reason is because I had a girlfriend who wore her hair natural and she wore styles that I didn’t even know were possible.  She opened my eyes to all that my hair was capable of doing and because of her I made the decision that I was going to learn to grow and rock my natural hair.
What is your hair type and texture? 4c
What products and techniques work best for your hair type/texture?   I’ve learned it’s not about product, it’s about process. My hair needs layers of moisture and to avoid major tangles.  I need to stretch my hair and rock protective styles.  On my YouTube channel, I share the products I use as well as the processes I use.
What is your hair regimen and how does it fit into your busy schedule?   If I’m busy I cut corners with my hair routine because I don’t want to be a slave to my hair.   But when time permits here is what I do:
Deep condition
Two strand twist and stretch
Style the next day.
Any additional advice?   Fall in love with yourself and flaunt it.   We are all beautiful and if you don’t see images in the media that represent your beauty, take ownership.   Be the change you want to see and openly celebrate your beauty by exuding confidence and dismissing haters.   You’ll inspire others by owning your beauty.
Where can you find Trudy?
