Hot Updos for the Holiday Season!
The holiday season is upon us. Sleighs bells are ringing. Outside, snow is falling. You have holiday parties to attend, an outfit to wear, but you are not sure what to do with your hair. Don’t let it spoil your holiday cheer. [Sorry. I couldn't resist the catchy holiday jingle.] Black Hair Media and Design Essentials’ Master Stylist, Deshonica Kerrie are here to help! Deshonica shares fail-safe tips for achieving a hot updo this holiday season.
Design Essentials Multi-Roll Updo
To achieve this style, you will need:
- Bobby Pins
- Natural Daily Moisturizing Lotion or leave-in/moisturizer of choice
- Nutriment Rx Creme Hairdress or styler/butter of choice
Step 1: Blow dry hair until it is about 80% dry so that flat twists have a smooth finish. Begin twisting the hair on the sides, to anchor the hairstyle.
Step 2: After twisting the sides, part the remaining sections of the hair. Roll and tuck the various sections using your moisturizer and styler of choice. Secure with pins.
Design Essentials Old & New Updo
For a different take on the Mult-Roll Updo, start with flat twists around the back and side of the head. (The flat twists not only give you a different look, but also gives your holiday look a bit of an edge. ) Then proceed to roll and tuck the remainder of the hair.
Design Essentials Spiral Updo
To achieve this style, you will need:
- Bobby Pins
- Design Essentials® Natural Twist and Set Setting Lotion or preferred setting lotion
- Small and medium size perm rods
Step 1: Apply setting lotion
Step 2: Hook the hair into small and medium sized setting rods. It is important to start at the base of the hair while wrapping the hair downward, around the rod, toward the end. Then secure the hair with a hair clamp. (To achieve this look, you can also use curl rods, flexi-rods, or Curlformers.)
Step 3: After hair is dry, remove the rods and separate the coils with setting lotion — to prevent frizz.
Step 4: To revitalize curls and reduce frizz (as the curls expand with water), use setting lotion. This style should last 2-4 weeks — throughout the holiday season.
So there you have it! Hot styles for the holiday season!
