How long have you been natural? Why did you go natural? I’ve been natural for 9 or 10 years. I went natural because during my freshman year of college, the entire back half of my hair broke off very badly. Up until that point, I had consistently worn braids (with relaxed hair) or weaves, and it was obviously too much for my hair. The day I felt fistfuls of hair falling out of my head, I declared NO MORE CHEMICALS.
What is your hair type and texture? My hair is very tightly coiled, but it’s texture is fine and the back of my hair is very soft compared to the front. Don’t know the official terminology for that.
What products and techniques work best for your hair type/texture? My hair is locked, so I don’t have a “technique” other than to wash and re-twist the roots. I’ve found that soaking my scalp in Apple Cider Vinegar is great for clarifying and cleaning my scalp of dandruff (with which I constantly battle). I use Shea Moisture’s restorative shampoo/conditioner. And moisturize with a combo of virgin coconut oil, rosemary essential oil, and peppermint essential oil. Honestly, I probably need to add to that, since I still battle with dryness, but I’m lazy.
What is your hair regimen and how does it fit into your busy schedule? At the present, I try to wash my hair once at least every 10 days. Re-twisting my roots/styling my hair really depends on if I need to look presentable, as I’m currently working two jobs and don’t have 4-5 hours to devote to loc maintenance.
Any additional advice? Protect your hairline! Don’t let you or anyone else put too much stress on your edges. Before I locked, I was natural for 5 years, and wore braids more than occasionally, and regret letting an overzealous hair braider wreak havoc on my hairline. I’m going to try the Jamaican Black Castor Oil and see if it helps.

Tea trea is also very good for your scalp as well. Your regimen is pretty good. The one thing to remember is twisting two often and two tight will definitely thin out ur hair and pull ur edges.
