Name: Kristel

What is your hair’s name? MyHair

Tell us about yourself. I am a dance teacher. I work with non profit companies as well as the board of education teaching dance and step.  I am also a group leader for after school programs.

How long have you been natural? Why did you go natural? I’ve been natural for 7 months. Transitioned for 13. I went natural because I was bored with my straight hair.  I wanted variety.

What is your hair type and texture? Depending on which portion of my hair. I fall in the 3c-4a categories.

What products and techniques work best for your hair type/texture? My hair is best when it’s moisturized. I won’t admit to being a product junkie. I’ll say that I could be looking for love in a lot of places. Ha! My staple products are Shea butter, castor oil, and Eco styler gel.  I will always have them in my hair drawer. I mix castor oil with Shea butter or mix it with Eco style gel to make a custard.

What is your hair regimen and how does it fit into your busy schedule? When it comes to my regimen I wash my hair every week. I wash it in sections which reduces detangling time. On a day where I have dry time I will two strand twist my hair.  My hair can take a while to dry. So first day hair can be a ponytail or cornrows if I am pressed for time. Wearing my hair in a ponytail or cornrows allows it to stretch.

Any additional advice? If I can offer any advise it would be to Keep Your Hair Moisturized. Dry hair equals breakage. You can find me on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/TheMyHair
