This past weekend, naturals from across the country flew to Atlanta to experience the largest natural hair show… the Taliah Waajid World Natural Hair, Health & Beauty Show.  The event was organized by one of the pioneers in the natural hair industry, Taliah Waajid.  The hair show and the Color Me Bad Fashion Show was sponsored by Jamaican, Mango  & Lime, and III Sisters of Nature.

If you have never attended a natural hair show, I’m sure you are wondering what the hoopla was all about.  Like other hair shows, it included vendors, seminars for both consumers and beauty experts, styling demonstrations, live performances,  and hair models. But what differentiates this show from others was the sheer magnitude.  This event draws company owners to serve at their booths alongside their employees, and the culminating fashion show, “Color Me Bad”, which brought together hair and fashion  definitely sets it apart.

Whether you were a new natural, a seasoned veteran, or a beauty expert, you were able to walk away from this event with lots of knowledge and and a great time.  Hair shows provide the perfect opportunity for women to learn about styling and maintenance techniques, learn about new products and stock up on their favorites. And this show delivered…

Seminars were offered throughout the day — for both consumers and beauty experts — about styling and maintenance.  Whether you wanted to learn how to press your hair, understand fall and winter hair maintenance, or improve your overall health, they had you covered.  And if you still needed more tutorials, live styling demos were showcased at select vendor booths. During these demos, correct usage of products was explained. Vendors also provided product samples for those unfamiliar with their products and sold their product lines. Since some product lines are only offered online or are  unavailable on the ground in certain markets, attendees jumped at the chance to purchase their faves sans shipping costs. As an added bonus, many products were offered at a discount. Vendors included: Design Essentials, Huetiful, Jane Carter, SheaMoisture, Curls, Oyin Handmade, and more!  The hair show was topped off by live performances on the main stage, the poets corner, and hair shows in the Taliah Waajid area.  As you can see, the event was not only informative but entertaining as well! And if you brought kids, their was a kids corner for them to enjoy too.

If you missed the fall show, don’t fret.  The spring show is expected to be even bigger! Black Hair Media will be there. Will you?!
