The Definition of Remy VS Virgin Hair

remyhairHave you ever wondered what the meaning of Remy, Yaky, Virgin, Brazilian, Peruvian, Mongolian, Chinese, Italian, European, or Russian hair is?  It’s a mouth full that’s what it is!  (LOL)

In this article we will discuss the most popular textures of human hair weaves used today.

Remy Hair
can be categorized in the premium segment, as far as hair quality is concerned.  Remy Hair is bundled in such a manner that the roots of the hair are on one side and the tip of the hair on the opposite side.   Since all the hair cuticles are placed in the same direction, the hairs remain undisturbed, making them more durable and long lasting.

Let’s get one thing straight ladies Remy Hair does not always mean Virgin hair, in fact it rarely means that.   Although the two terms are used synonymously, they are completely different in meanings.

Yaky Hair:  Is called Yaky or Regular Yaky or Regular relaxed yaky.  Yaky is made to look like typical African American hair that has been relaxed and is not as silky as the Remy hair, the strands are thicker.
Virgin hair means that it’s hair so pure that it’s never been processed or treated, EVER.   That means the donors have never in their lifetime gone to a salon to get their hair curled or colored!

Brazilian, Peruvian, Mongolian, Chinese, and Italian hair are all a form of Virgin hair.  The hair is 100% natural and not processed and free of any damage to the cuticles.   The hair usually comes from the specific country it is named after.

European hair is collected in the CIS countries; they consist of what was used to be the Soviet Union.  The main difference of this hair consists that they have natural correct European colors, from dark brown to light-blonde.   The structure of the hair is thin and silky.  European hair blends well with women of European decent.

The truth is, 97% of all human hair out there has been chemically treated in one form or another.  Forget about what’s virgin and what’s not, and concentrate on attaining quality hair for you and your clients.  The one fundamental key you want to know is how it’s being processed and treated.

  3. [I had to write this over because I couldn’t figure where to put the CAPTCHA!] Annoyed, but anyway, this article brings up many great points. Even people who claim they have been doing hair for 10 years still don’t know the difference between Remy and Virgin hair. This is a great basis for explanation. Also I think people need to enjoy luxury hair and stop shopping for cheap hair thinking to achieve expensive results. Not all hair is good and sometimes you find that out the hard way.

    • Most Virgin hair is Remy as it is procured by Vendors who buy hair at the hair auctions from the temples in India.

Indians donate hair as a symbolic representation of shedding the ultimate vanity of a human being in front of GOD.

Because most people who do this are not vain, they do not use chemicals and perms to treat the hair, hence it is probably virgin hair.

People who have the wealth to get their hair permed or colored, tend not to donate the hair.

Hope this helps, if not feel free to call us @IndusHairExtensions

  8. Package hair is cheaper and the quality is not as good as Real bundle hair. Unfortunately when there is a lot of money to be made you might get goat hair if they think they can get away with it. Believe me I have customers come in the salon with $300 price receipts and the hair is still not real. I refuse to get carpal tunnel curling 12-24 inch fake hair. I can take real bundle hair wrap it around my flat iron twice pull it throught and you get a perfect curl. You can not do that with long fake hair and I refuse to curl it.

  9. Thank you so much for the clarification! Many women want to the know the differences. I also want to point out that Brazilian, Peruvian, Mongolian, Chinese, and Italian are country of origins, not forms of virgin hair. Hair from these regions can be either virgin or processed.

I would like to sell hair since I am close to colleges and high school. They are looking for hair. I cannot afford to be ripped off. I earn slightly above minimum wage, and it take everything I make to pay my bills.

      • I studied hair for years now, and have started a hair company just recently, I bought hair from China vendors and it was a nightmare, I learned through a costly trial and error, which i don’t recommend to anyone with a low start up capital as I once had when i started.I was given a company to purchase my hair from in the US, which i”m happy to say that we have awesome communication with. And the hair is FABULOUS, they are US IMPORTERS that sell retail and Wholesale. We get all of our high quality hair kilos from them. They are # is 518 772 3374 for really good prices too. Go to there instagram page at #pradeshihair to see some of their photo’s of the hair. BEAUTIFUL. You will always have some happy customer’s as we do now.

  10. Thank you. I’ve been searching the web with this question. If you cn answer another it would be greatly appreciated. Bundle vs pack hair for a weave. What are the advantages? What are the disadvantages? Thank you in advance.

    • All hair is bundled and some hair is packed after that, so I am not sure if I understand you completely correct. But if you looking at the differences in store bought hair vs. hair being sold in bundles on the street, you could get lucky at both the places or ripped off at both the places.

Let me explain; Hair as a commodity comes in two forms, when it is collected in its purest form with the cuticles intact and all strands of hair flowing in the same direction. Remy

Collected hair from the combs all over the world (primarily from poor countries) and processed by stripping the cuticles off and treated with silocone (non-remy). Also sometimes mixed with nylon threads and other animal hair such as YAK hair.

Most hair being sold in bundles or in stores dominated by Koreans/chineese the hair is the second kind, also the street hustlers tend to sell the second quality hair.

There are very few vendors that sell pure virgin hair of good quality. even Virgin hair can be of very poor quality if proper care is not taken by the manufacturer to weed out the bad quality hair (hair that came from folks that did not take good care of their hair)

So really you got to know what you are getting into, work with a vendor that gives 100% money back guarantee if you are not happy with the quality of hair and one that has a great customer service.

      Give us a try
